Abstract:
Nowadays, adsorbent needs to treat dyes solution waste in the industries still growing each year. Due to adsorbent high cost, industries need adsorbents that cheaper but also efficient to treat dyes solution. Common adsorbents that used widely are activated carbon, silica gel, and also zeolite. Those adsorbents are expensive which leads to other alternative, which is chicken eggshell waste. This eggshell can be obtained from household wastes and also restaurants wastes, so it doesn’t need much money to get it.
The purpose of this research are to study the effects of crystallization towards hydroxyapatite’s characterization; to study hydroxyapatite’s performance (not modified hydroxyapatite) to adsorb dyes solution through batch process, such as methylene blue and methyl orange; to study hydroxyapatite’s performance (modified hydroxyapatite) to adsorb methylene blue through batch process; to determine adsorption capacity of hydroxyapatite using many theories; and also to determine the proper adsorption kinetics to explains adsorption reactions that occurred. The optimum pH which obtained from this research is 6 for methylene blue and 10 for methyl orange, while the optimum initial concentration is 10 ppm for both solutions. Isoterm model which is suitable for adsorption process is Isoterm Langmuir. This model fits well for methylene blue and methyl orange solutions. And the proper adsorption kinetics for this process is pseudo second order, for methylene blue and methyl orange solutions.
