Abstract:
Bioethanol can be produced by fermentation process and can be used for fuel with minimum
purity 99.5%. Ethanol dehydration process can be executed by azeotropic distillation and extractive
distillation. Dividing-wall columns can save energy consumption for azeotropic distillation and
extractive distillation. Iniital step of this study modeling and model validation thereafter. Simulations
performed by change the value of several manipulated variables relating to feed condition and
operating condition (process). The changes is done so that can be obtain information which described
the effect of the changed variable against the target parametes such as product (n-pentane and
ethanol for azeotropic distillation;ethylene glycol and ethanol for extractive distillation) purity and
energy consumption. Another simulations were performed by changing feed condition so that the preconcentration
process gone and energy consumption. Simulation is executed using Aspen Plus.
