Abstract:
Biodiesel is one of alternative fuel for the diesel engine that can be made by chemical reaction of fatty acid with alcohol. The production technology of biodiesel is continue to be developed for efficient results. One of biodiesel production technology is using reactive distillation with dividing wall column. The simulations was performed by changing the value of operation condition such as reboiler duty (Qr) and distillate rate (D). The purpose of changing the manipulated variables is to find out the effect of varying operation condition on the purity of biodiesel, methanol, water and the reaction conversion. The simulation was done using Aspen Plus using UNIFAC as thermodynamics model and RadFrac as unit operation model.
