Dyes have widely been used commercially in industry, and eventually produce dyed wastewater containing many hazardous contaminants. Adsorption is one of separation process can be used in wastewater treatment sequence. General synthetic adsorbent is expensive and non-biodegradable therefore cheaper and greener adsorbent is needed. Eggshell waste is a domestic waste usually directly discarded turns out can be used as raw materials for natural adsorbent as it porous structure. Basic treatment used to activate the adsorbent. The objectives of this research are to learn about the use of adsorbent from eggshell waste for dye adsorption process, learn the effects of process variables (initial concentration, operation temperature, and the acidity of the solution, in a fixed agitation speed and chemically activated adsorbent dose), to determine the adsorption isotherm model based on the experimental data, to determine the reaction kinetics occurred, to determine thermodynamics variables that can explain adsorption reaction occurred. From the analysis, it can be concluded that as greater initial concentration, greater time contact, lower operation temperature, and more basic the acidity’s solution, the adsorption capacity will be larger as well. The reaction itself is exothermic with ΔH -3891,2 Joule and following Freundlich isotherm model and pseudo second order kinetic reaction. |
