Abstract:
Usually, behavior of motorcycle riders does not adhere to the traffic regulation. They always change-lane while there is a chance. This behavior leads to traffic congestion. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the impact of exclusive motorcycle lane to road performance, i.e. traffic volume, speed, and density. Case study is carried out on Dr. Junjunan street in Bandung, with assistance of West Bandung Police. Traffic flow, travel
time, and road geometric as the primary data is collected using video camera. Indonesia Highway Capacity Manual 1997 is used to analyze the data. Hypothetical analysis is also used to determine whether exclusive motorcycle lane will increase road performance significantly. The results show that based on statistical analysis, traffic flow, speed, and density between existing condition and exclusive motorcycle lane is the
same for West to East direction but significantly different concerning traffic volume for East to West direction.
