dc.description The time delay function occurring in the derivation of thin lens and mirror formula via FermatÂ’s principle is derived explicitly for the case of the thin spherical lens and mirror, and the associated focal length is obtained from the second derivative of the function. The derivation procedure can be used to obtain any time delay function and focal length associated with a thin lens/mirror with a well-defined surface function. en_US
