Abstract:
In order to anticipate future development of a region, a comprehensive planning regarding road network is imperative. It is needed as land transpOl1ation in many countries has a major role. Indonesia as a developing country should anticipate a dynamic change of land use, as a response to the requirement of economic development. To support the development, an appropriate road network should be provided.
The appropriateness is explained by its connection with future land use, traffic demands, road quality, and budget. Thus, this study has an aim to determine the strategic road to anticipate the development of prioritized regions and aspects in the province of West Java. The result shows that the planned land use and prioritized region demands 12 strategic provincial roads in West Java. Referring to technical standard for road lane, it is also found that 3S road segments need road widening and one segment needs betterment in pavement quality. Analysis also shows several implications that should be handled each year up to 2013.
