Abstract:
During a years some cities in Indonesia have experienced a massive urban and industrial development which has involved conversion of land use to industrial areas and human settlements. On the other hand some cities currently facing the critical condition of clean water and the services of urban wastewater. As a consequences of clean water demand, some industries and household explore ground water as a source of clean water. Over abstraction of ground water will have impact to declining of groundwater tabel and land subsidence. Problems that have been created by all of aspects above, therefore, it is necessary to acquire some dimensions that could explain the urban water security. This paper describes an approach aiming to identify some dimensions that affect to urban water security. The methodology of this paper is studying which dimension that give more affect to urban water security with their phenomena and problems of each city. As the result of this research is developing a theoretical framework of urban water security, consist of six key dimensions of urban water security, such as: 1) Household Water Security, 2) Environmental Water Security, 3) Economic Water Security, 4) Water Security Independency, 5) Resilience to Water Related Disaster, and 6) Institutions.
