The development of information and communication technology or better known as ICT has started in the 70s and is considered to have the potential to increase the productivity of the construction world. Hence how much ICT has been developed in the global construction world is interesting to be studied. This research will focus on the documentation study method which aims to observe the development of ICT application in the global construction industry and also in Indonesia, especially about BIM. The study showed BIM development in the global construction industry now in the collaboration phase with other advanced ICTs such as AI, IoT, Big Data Analysis, etc., and has begun to enter BIM collaboration at the global level while in Indonesia BIM development has only reached the adaptation stage of national level. To fill the gap between the two, some hindering factors in implementing BIM need to be overcome namely the high initial investment cost of BIM implementation and the difficulty of changing work culture from conventional to BIM which resulted in the lack of BIM experts in Indonesia. |
