Abstract:
In big cities like Bandung, Jakarta, Surabaya and other cities, baby carriages are commonly being used by adult people to take the babies outing. In some situations, baby stroller is left is the car and the baby is moved to the baby carriage. This activity is really inconvenient and justified time consuming. Moving the baby from the stroller car seat to the carriage will certainly disturb especially the slipping baby. It is a good idea if the stroller can be directly set into the baby carriage fast and securely. This research work focuses on
redesigning an adaptable baby carriage that is able to accommodate or assemble several types of baby car seats such as Baby Does, Chicco and Pliko. In some baby ware shops in Bandung, there are sold some baby carriages that can assemble/join to some typical stroller car seat, as they are designed by the same manufacturer. The design proposed here is based on the physical dimensions of the three car seat types mentioned above. Besides, anthropometric data from users are also required to get a convenient and suitable design. This design also accommodates the possibility to push the carriage from two opposite directions. A 3D design is resulted and procedure to set the stroller on the carriage is proposed as well as the way how to fold the carriage when it should be stopped in the car storage compartment. This design hopefully can contribute in ergonomic design of devices that consider the user anthropometry and comfortability.
