This paper describes the values and spirits of green building architecture as significant new Indonesian local wisdom in efforts to mitigate environmental disasters related to climate change, contained informal
policies. The green building architecture is one manifestation of the implementation of the green movement in response to environmental disasters associated with climate change. This paper is the study result concerning the values and spirits of green building architecture contained in formal policy content, which includes regulations from the government and rating tools from other formal institutions.
Government policies include ministerial regulations, province government regulations, and mayor regulations, while rating tools from other formal institutions include rating tools from GBCI – Green Building Council Indonesia and EDGE – Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies. This study used qualitative methods, namely through (1) tracing the content of regulations and rating tools for green building architecture in Indonesia, (2) interpreting and explaining the content of local wisdom values that exist in them, both directly related architecturally, or indirectly. The findings of this study are to answer questions about (1) the prospect of the values and spirit of green building architecture as the new Indonesian local wisdom; and (2) how it has been implemented in the built environment in Indonesia that has been carried out, in an effort to prevent and reduce environmental disasters due to climate change. |
