Polder system has been introduced in Indonesia as one of the best solutions for an
area located below sea water level to control the flood. The polder itself is a
combination system between retention pond and pumping system. Based on the
regulation, drainage system should be designed based on certain return period so
as the pumping system. A study has been conducted by Wulandari (2015), it is
mentioned that the pumping system should be designed under time-series data not
just the return period rainfall data. In this study, two scenarios of pumping
operations system are being implemented at daily rainfall 2005, where the
scenario 1 is a pumping system designed based on a certain return period and
scenario 2 is a pumping system designed based on monthly maximum daily
rainfall (2005-2014). In general scenario 2 gives the best result compare to the
scenario 1. Although scenario 2 gives best result, it does not mean return period
rainfall is not take into account. Luckly, 25 years return period rainfall occured
during 2005-2014, hence, the operation scenario 2 still could handle heavy
rainfall. |
