This research discusses Women’s March Indonesia, a social movement that was
conducted in Indonesia as an effort to raise awareness about gender inequality in
Indonesia. In this thesis, the author chose Instagram as Instagram was used as the
main promotion tool to reach Women’s March Indonesia target marchers.
Analysis to answer the research question ‘’ are based on the social movement and
social media theory, new media concept, network society theory as well as the
concept of technology and social movement participation. Through this research,
it was found that Instagram as a social media plays the role as the trigger of the
start of Women’s March Indonesia and as a booster for Women’s March
Indonesia success. Instagram connects people who has emotional attachment to
gender equality issues through the enormity of the community on Instagram,
which then leads to concrete action in the form of Women’s March Indonesia as a
contribution to collective efforts. |
