Abstract:
Husein Sastranegara Internasional Airport in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia is developing by building a new terminal building. The new terminal building will serve 3,400,000 passengers, much higher than capacity of existing terminal building that can only serve 750, 000 passengers. Therefore, development of airport support facilities such as parking area is also needed because there is changing mode from ground mode to air mode transportation, or vice versa. The aim of this study is to evaluate the need of parking facility after the operation of new terminal building. Primary data is collected using number plate method of park vehicles at the airport area and questionnaire regarding automobile driver opinion of the need of parking area, during weekday and weekend. A number of parking characteristics i.e. parking capacity, parking accumulation, parking duration, parking turn-over, and parking index used in analysis. Furthermore, statistical methods i.e. bivariate pearson method and cronbach-alpha method also used to examine validation and reliability of the data. Results study indicated that new parking area is needed and most respondent strongly agree that developing parking area is needed in order to reduce poor traffic congestion in the existing airport parking area.
