Abstract:
The locomotion of Shark and Mackerel (Milkfish) were recorded by a video
camera and the parameters (velocities and positions as a function of time)
were extracted by The World in Motion 95 software. The extracted parameters
then were analyzed in force parallel to the fish motion track, those are; drag
force and propulsion force. By calculating these forces and comparing two fish
with the same body shape, we would predict the relation between speeds,
length, in the drag force formula. Surprisingly, we found that the large fish
have grater speed than a small one (for the same body shape) and the length
comparison of two fish is close to quadratic model of speed comparison.
