Abstract:
Tourism should be understood as a multidimensional phenomenon that
encompasses physical, social, cultural, human as well as economic dimensions.
Accordingly, those dimensions should have been used as a basic framework in
formulating strategic planning for tourism. This paper explains how physical,
social, cultural, human, and economic dimensions are merged in order to
integrate a sustainable development concept in formulating a tourism strategic
planning. In the last part of this paper, the authors also propose a revision for
existing tourism development planning of West Java Province for the period of
2001-2010.
